Iron Bow Trophy
Since 2022, our club holds an annual Iron Bow Challenge at our Xmas Party. It's intent is to determine who is the best overall archer in our club, when they are stripped away from all their normal conveniences. No sights, no stablisers, not a single luxuary! It's all down to their bare individual skill.
To make it fair to all of our archers, the challenge consists of:
A 3 arrow end shooting with a right-handed compound barebow.
A 3 arrow end shooting with a left-handed recurve barebow.
A 3 arrow end shooting with an ambidextrous longbow.
A 3 arrow end shooting with an ambidextrous horsebow, while sitting on our horse! (Binky)
The rules are fairly simple:
There is no prior practice with the bows, and no practice arrows.
You can't use your own equipment. You must use the club bows & arrows provided.
Only one attempt per archer is allowed.
Normal archery scoring rules apply.
